Committees

In order to carry out all the projects that Kiwanis is involved with throughout the year, each member is asked to join one or more committees. 

z - Major Committee of the Club, which oversees a group of related
     committees, and is chaired by a Club Director.

Board of Directors Meeting: 2nd Tuesday of each month (September to June), 7:00 pm, Hyfield Place (All members are welcome to attend a Board meeting.)

AKtion Clubs of Ottawa Support Pushman, Glenn
Aktion Club is made up of adults with physical and mental disabilities. Our club provides financial support and with other Kiwanis Clubs, on a rotational basis, takes our turn in guiding the AKtion Club members at their meetings, serving their meals and providing entertainment for them.
Army Cadets Fritsch, Brian
Financially support the Manotick Army Cadet Corp. 2958 which meets weekly in the basement of the Manotick Legion'
Bingoland South Davidson, Dale

Club has four teams of members selling bingo cards at this bingo all year long
Birthdays and Anniversaries Demers, Margaret
To track and announce Birthday and Wedding Anniversaries of members at our regular meetings.
Blood Donor Clinics Laperriére, Claude
Held at various venues in Manotick including church halls and Manotick Firehall. Members provide support services to Canadian Blood Services.
Bursaries and Scholarships Club awards bursaries to worthy students at local high schools.
Charter Night Czuba, Deborah
Organize all aspects of the annual Charter Night event usually held in November including venue, meal, entertainment, special guests, flowers, speakers, presentations, door prizes, etc.
Christmas Cakes Simpson, Robert A
Kiwanis Fruit Cakes are sold at various locations in the Manotick Area. In addition cakes, cookies and chocolates are sold in Ottawa South and Ottawa East.
Christmas Trees Simpson, Robert A

Sale of Christmas Trees. The tree lot is located next to the Home Hardware in the Manotick Mews. Opens the last weekend in November or the first weekend in December until all trees are sold.
Club Membership Retention Périard, Claudette
To ensure all members are kept active and involved within the club's committees, projects and events. To follow-up with members who have been absent for some time. To achieve the growth goals of the club president.

Each committee member will email or call the club members from their list to determine if a member and his/her partner will or will not attend a partner's night club meeting or special event.
Daffodil Sales Newton, Greg
Sell Daffodils for the Ontario Cancer Society at the Robinson’s Independent at the Manotick Mews at the beginning of April each year.
Dickinson Days Cromie, Brian
Stewart, Jim
Organizes this annual event which takes place on the 1st weekend in June. Works closely with the City of Ottawa, Ottawa Police and Fire Departments and the Manotick BIA and merchants. Club members volunteer for a multitude of tasks.
External Publicity Cromie, Brian
Write and publish articles about our club and its activities in the Manotick Messenger, our local newspaper.
Health of the Club Members Demers, Margaret
Monitors the health of the members of the club and reports at every regular club meeting on the status of each sick, invalid and recovering member.
House Set-Up Crosbie, Colin
Set-up and take down of all club paraphernalia incluing banners, gavel & bell, flags, charter document, podium, PA system, etc. at each regular meeting and charter night event.

A Youth Leadership retreat held annually in October near Arden, Ontario. Youth are sponsored by Kiwanis Clubs from divisions in Eastern Ontario including our own.

Kiwanis Music Festival (NCR) Laperriére, Claude
The Kiwanis Music Festival - National Capital Region provides incentives for the region's youth to develop and showcase their talents on an annual basis. Established in 1945 and usually including more than 10 000 registrants producing approximately 3000 performances per year. Our club supports generously both the operational and academic sides of the festival. We contribute financially to the festival and also provide volunteers to attend board meetings and staff venues.
Manotick Food Cupboard Cromie, Brian
Chair represents the club on the Manotick Outreach Committee. The club supports this outreach by regularly collecting food from Robinson's Independent Grocer store and taking it to the Food Cupboard, housed at St. Leonard's Church, Manotick.

At one on one sessions, prior to their induction into the club, explain what Kiwanis is all about at all levels but especially at the Kiwanis Club of Manotick level. Expectations from the club of all new members is to participate in as many club activities and service projects as they can afford the time to do so.

To decorate the room and tables for each Partners Night meeting or event.
Records and Archives Davidson, Dale
Retain in a safe and dry location, Maintain and Update the records, photos and other important items relating to the history of the club going back to 1960. Mary Davidson, wife of member Dale Davidson, does the lion's share of the work.

Plan Partners nights and special them nights and look after the head table
Safety and Insurance Coates, Richard
Ensure all Kiwanis venues are safe for club members and the public to use and enjoy. Ensure the club members and Board of Directors are adequatrely protected from any claims for liability and damages arising from any activities or decisions of the club and its members at Kiwanis sponsored events, meetings or activities.
Scouts Thomas, Cam
Financial support for the 1st Manotick Scouting Group which includes 4 Beaver Colonies, 3 Cub Packs, 1 Scout Troop and 1 Venture Company in both Manotick and Riverside South communities.
Senior Bingos Mulvihill, Debbie
Ensure Senior Bingos at Carleton Lodge and Hyfield Place are carried out monthly except during the summer months.
Shiverfest Pancake Breakfast Mulvihill, Debbie
Organize the Shiverfest Pancake Breakfast held usually on a Saturday in January from 7 am to 11 am at Manotick Arena. Flapjack flippers and servers are needed. Event raises money for various charities.
Soap Box Cart Haan, Allan
Rent out our Kiwanis Club of Manotick Cart for others to use in community soap Box Derbies. Also to assign a young boy or girl to drive it in the annual Manotick Soap Box Derby
Speakers Committee Coulombe, Gary
Finds and arranges speakers for our regular meetings except during June, July and August. Suggestions and referrals from members always welcome.

Write and issue Tick Talk our club's newsletter twice monthly.
Turtle Race Czuba, Deborah
Annual event held during Dickenson Days. Fundraiser whereby numbered tickets are sold to the general public and the winning number is determined by the rubber turtle which wins the race down the Rideau River course.

Welfare ( Formerly Donations) Usher, Neil
On behalf of the club reviews all requests received for financial assistance from organizations and individuals. Each request undergoes a due deligence scrutiny. Recommendations for granting financial assistance are presented to the Board of Directors for their approval monthly. This subcommittee reports to the Club Treasurer.

Oversees the work of the Street Clean Up, Blood Donor Clinics, Manotick Food Cupboard, Bursaries & Scholarships, Shiverfest Pancake Breakfast, Daffodil Sales, Soap Box Derby, and Senior Bingos Committees.

Promotes growth and retention of club membership by encouraging members to invite prospective members to come to a regular meeting or club event and through distributing information about the club and its activities at public events.
